coming to terms

at some point, in all of our lives, we have pondered the phrase jumbo shrimp. they can't be jumbo if they are shrimp. sometimes the shrimp aren't so jumbo at all. just the price. and then there is my friend mike's favorite. past history. the word history already kind of suggests it is about the past. so even if they were to say passed history they still aren't gaining anything. it's just history. things about the past. so, i was delighted last night when i heard on the news that someone in south bend was fatally wounded. not for the person that was shot. but for the phrase fatally wounded. i am pretty sure they meant he was dead.
